Week 1: 52 Weeks to Simplify your Life Challenge hosted by Home Life Simplified
Wow, 2011 was a big year. We had preschool and other commitments for the first time as well as new stages and ages for the little ones. An exciting opportunity to speak in front of 100's of like minded mum's and professional's was also very daunting but exciting.
What energised you?
I started running with the Couch to 5k running program. This made me feel full of energy and something I hadn't done since I was in high school. I didn't actually complete the 8 weeks, but was so thrilled that I started adn it was the most amount of exercise I had done in a long, long time.
What made you feel happy?
Being with my family, camping, running, spending time in nature, reading and just living. I was honoured to be a part of two very different birth and this made me very, very happy.
What made you feel at peace?
Knowing just how truly blessed we are to have the life that we do, the health that we have and the values that we uphold.
What positive people lifted you up?
There were many positive people that were inspiration for me in 2011. Many, many bloggers and other online communities inspired me last year.
What filled your “tank”?
Long baths (sans children), time with friends with and without my boys, supporting two friends achieve the birth's that they desired. Helping people, in all walks of life.
What worked to bring your family together?
Spending time away from the hustle and bustle and just being in nature camping, really brought my family together. Also having a weekend with extended family at a beach house was lovely, the kids had a great time and it was great to catch up with everyone.
What is something that made you feel excited to dive right in?
In 2011, I had the opportunity to share my story and journey with many like minded Mum's and professional's. I was very very excited to dive right in to writing my speech.
What did you learn (positive things)
I learnt that things don't always go to plan, no matter how long you have to prepare.
That facing your fears, and getting something done, can be truly exhilarating.
I love to help others and I've only found my true passions after having children and that is ok.
What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for my family and health. Since having children we have made some drastic changes to our lives, including what we eat and what we expose ourselves to. The health of my family is highly valued and important to me and I am grateful for the time and effort that I've taken to make sure that all of us are healthy and happy.
I am grateful that I can stay home to be with my children and that our family is able to do what we want whenever. Our lifestyle is pretty flexible and not routine at all. We do enjoy spending many days at home, but love to spend time with friends and family when we can as well.
